Prescription Drug Drop Off

All unused or unwanted prescription medications may be disposed of by being deposited into the Red Barrel located at the front entrance of Unadilla Township Offices.  Prescription drugs may be dropped off Monday-Friday 9am-4pm, and it is completely anonymous.  All prescription drugs deposited in the Red Barrel are destroyed in an environmentally safe manner under the oversight of law enforcement officers.
Please note that needles or syringes are not accepted.

To dispose of pills, capsules, tablets:

  • Dump the pills into a plastic baggie. Seal the baggie. Discard the empty bottle.
  • If you do not have a resealable plastic baggie, you may dump the medication directly into the barrel.
  • Please do not discard bottle into barrel.

To dispose of liquid medication:

  • Before you visit the Big Red Barrel, pour the liquid medication onto paper towels until all of the liquid medication is absorbed by the paper towel.
  • Place the paper towels into a plastic baggie.
  • Discard the empty bottle.
  • Please do not discard empty bottle into barrel.

Please Remember to remove any personal information before throwing away empty bottles.
