Meeting called to order by Supervisor Peterson at 7:01 p.m. Present: Peterson, Topping, Mahler, Krueger, Cowan. Absent: None. Pledge to flag. Motion Krueger support Topping to approve agenda as amended. Discussion Cowan wished to add planning commission public hearing comments to agenda, she was told to bring those to public hearing not to board, as we have not received anything from Planning yet. Consensus agreed. Motion Mahler support Topping to approve August minutes and payment of bills as presented. Carried. Call to Public: Resident of Tamara Drive upset with events on that street, problems with a resident of that area and the police presence on their road. She presented a letter to the board regarding those issues. Krueger as public safety commissioner requests a meeting with her to discuss any ongoing issues. Planning Report by Krueger, they will be holding public hearing on the 18th to hear input on new sign ordinance language and also to hear input on density changes in all the existing zoning districts, reducing to one-acre minimums. Concerns by Cowan to complete Master Plan first, and by going to 1 acre densities it takes away all the incentives for developers to do PUD’s or Open Space Developments. Discussed Planner input at regular meetings. Topping explained that the Planner wished to only attend Master Plan meetings not regular meetings and that it was at her initiation no anyone from the Board, clerk to forward email stating same. Police Report by Chief Cook they need new tires for one car and are sending officer Russell and Hamlin to DNA classes. The drug forfeiture and training funds will be used for these. Motion Krueger support Peterson to approve tires and training officers. Carried. Fire report by Chief Curtis, he reports they will be leaving this week to inspect truck. They wish approval of 2 new firemen, Stidum and Mcginan, and they are now sending 5 to fire academy training, only budgeted for 3 so they wish approval for extra expense. Motion Krueger support Peterson to approve new officers along with the added training expense. Carried. Curtis working on getting letter of extension for Grant, since truck won’t be here by deadline.
Recreation report by Cowan, they are dissolving till spring. Senior Report by Mahler, they will be offering flu shots here on Oct. 9,2007. Zoning Report available. Correspondence: GIS letter regarding addressing ordinance, which is on hold for now. Brown show cause at 7:30. Attorney Walker present representing Mr. Brown. After much discussion it was decided to turn over to our attorney to send Ms. Walker a letter outlining what violations exist and the remedy we will accept. Show cause ended at 7:50. Bell show cause began at 7:50 p.m. Bells present. Supervisor and zoning administrator never met with them to discuss their violations. A meeting has been set on their property for the upcoming Tuesday to meet and give them list of violations, if any. Motion Topping support Krueger to approve the newest Mutual Law Enforcement Aid Agreement. Carried. Motion Mahler support Krueger to approve lowest concrete bid, lowest bid was $2965.00 pending bidders agreement to pay past due taxes from the bid payment. Supervisor to get agreement in writing. The Township will pay the difference from what the recreation department has in their account. Carried. Motion Mahler support Krueger to approve Tax Administration Fee Resolution, this was proposed because of the deteriorating economy in Michigan and the fact that the taxes continue to increase, even in a down market. Unadilla Township Board Resolves to waive the tax admin fee for the upcoming winter tax bills only. Roll Call vote: Ayes: Mahler, Cowan, Peterson, Krueger, Topping, Nays: None. Resolution approved. Cowan reports that Unadilla Township had 13 acres in Unadilla donated to the Livingston Land Conservancy for a nature preserve from the Roepke family. Final call to Public: Cowan discussion on upcoming public hearing and being allowed to speak freely and not cut short. It was expressed that the time for discussion on zoning related issues is at planning not at Board, whey we have no information before us to consider yet. Motion Krueger support Mahler to adjourn at 8:10 p.m. Carried.
