Meeting called to order at 7:31 p.m. Present: Williams, Topping, Mahler, Krueger, Cowan. Absent: None. Pledge to flag led by Supervisor. Moment of silence in remembrance of 9-11. Police Chief Cook and Officer Russell presented a 9-11 commemorative plaque to Fire Chief Mark Schroeder in thanks to the fire department for all they do for our community. Motion Krueger support Mahler to approve the consent agenda items including Minutes of Aug. 12, Aug. 25 and Sept. 1. and payment of bills as presented. Carried. Call to public: Mr. McArthur is seeking input from the township for uses of the golf outing proceeds. Their group is sponsoring toward a community cause. They expect to make approx. $700 to $800 towards a good cause. Last year they raised $700 toward the AED purchased by the police department. Road and zoning reports given. Planning report given, they are working on the process to update the Master Plan. They discussed ways to get community involvement in updating the Master Plan. Valley Acres was put on hold. They also viewed a video on Livingston County land development ideas. Senior Help Day will be October 13, 2004. Public Safety Reports: Police Chief reports both cars are in good running condition. They are moved to the school location. MDOT posted signs for the Twp. and police. Thanks to Chuck Hertzler who has worked painting the township and police offices for us. Newest officer Soli is now working. Fire Chief Schroeder reports they will be having Fire prevention day on October 3rd, from 1 to 4 p.m. They will have a car extraction at 2:30 and provide a smoke house for the kids to learn. They had the MFR fire inspection last month and it went well. Motion Mahler support Krueger to approve resolution 904-01, a change in sewer special assessment, removing 2 REU’s from 13-22-301-036 leaving only 1 REU’s on that parcel, and transferring the 2 REU’s to 13-22-300-054 for a total of 3 REU’s on that parcel. All in favor. Carried. 2 Bids were received and opened for the Township Hall. One was for $140,000.00 the other was for $170,000.00. Motion Mahler support Cowan to table until next meeting for time to review contingencies. Carried. Motion Cowan support Williams to authorize purchase of new police car. After much discussion Krueger, Mahler and Topping opposed. Motion denied. Discussion of fire department tanker truck. Fire department will be looking at options and specs on new fire trucks. The current truck is running fine for now. Chief states it takes approx. 9 months for the spec process and another 120 days or more after that from order to completion. Discussion of 4th application of brine on roads this year, it was the consensus to use the left over money towards gravel patching. Motion Krueger support Williams to match road gravel improvement program funds with the road commission. Carried.
