Unadilla Township Special Board Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order by Supervisor Williams at 7:33 p.m.  Present:  Williams, Topping, Mahler, Krueger, Cowan.  Absent: None.  Also present Police Chief Cook and James Peterson.  Call to public:  None.  Discussed security issues at new school, keys, signs, staffing, security cameras.  Discussed move issues to new school.  Discussed problems with sidewalk replacement by Lawrence & Clarke, also discussed sunken pits.  Lawrence & Clarke have offered to pay for ½ the cost of the sidewalk repair or $750.00, the sewer authority would pay the remaining costs.  Lawrence & Clarke claim the contractor that installed line to home did the damage.  We will inspect to see if it can be resolved.  Discussed sign at new location, one has been designed by Tracy Graphics at cost of $800.00.  Motion Cowan support Krueger to order sign to be installed by Tracy Graphics.  Carried.  Williams informed everyone that keys will cost $50.00 to replace and each person issued a key will sign a contract to replace them if lost or stolen.  Discussion of police pay rates in regard to hiring experienced officers versus ones that would require a great deal of training.  Discussed using 2 part time officers instead of hiring a full time officer at this time.  Discussion of police car took place, there was discussion of waiting till after November.  Discussed ride along program and have decided that with the reserve officers currently supplying their time, we’d like to hold off on this.  Chief Cook requests we send 2 officers to a 2-day community mental health training where neighborhood watch classes will also take place.  He requests we send Officer Russell and reserve officer Tumbarella.  Mahler requests bring back discussion on security cameras to resolve prior to move.  Motion Krueger support Cowan to purchase 2 outdoor cameras to be installed and purchased by Specialty Satellite cost of approximately $1600.00. Discussion Mahler opposed.  Motion Carried.  Meeting adjourned at 9:10 p.m.
