Unadilla Township Regular Meeting Minutes
June 10, 2010
Meeting called to order
at 7:01 p.m.Pledge to flag. Present:
Walker, Topping, Mahler, Cowan, Weiland. Absent: None.
Motion
Walker support Mahler to approve the agenda as amended.
Motion
Mahler support Walker to approve May minutes as presented. Carried.
Motion
Mahler support Cowan to approve payment of bills as presented. Carried.
Call to Public:
None. Senior Report
by Loretta Beal, they have increased members to 35, they will be holding their
own Senior Prom in June and are having a bake sale during the 4th of
July celebration along with a float, they are also planning trips. They are
looking for volunteer to do glucose and blood pressure readings for the seniors
along with coordinating an exercise program.
Recreation Report by
Cowan, the Conservancy will be doing property maintenance on Williamsville road
this month. The 3rd Tuesday of July will be an informational meeting
about the Lakeland Trail plans from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Township Hall.
Planning Report
by Topping, they will be holding public hearings in July for driveway and road
regulations. They approved a special use for boat storage on Joslin Lake Drive.
Public Safety Reports:
Chief Cook reports the old police car was sold, need a camera repaired at the
township. AA bicycle tour will be through town in July and they reimburse us
for police patrols for the day, they are working on junk car cleanup.
Motion Walker support
Cowan to hire Kimberly Leeds as a part-time officer. Carried. Fire Report
by Asst. Chief Curtis, requesting saw repairs of approx. $205.00,

Cowan support Walker to approve repairs. Carried. He also reported a
small oil spill near Wasson, they are working on cleanup and responsible party
is paying for cleanup. Weiland requested they get flags up in town prior to
Flag Day and discussed Christmas decorations, we will look into replacement for
street light decorations. Correspondence:
There was a sewer line break for Gregory sewer that was repaired.
Unfinished Business:
Arnold road zoning violation discussion. He has not progressed in putting in
septic, or building, but he has put a well in. Walker to make contact to get a
final time-line on progress. Discussion on septic, building, removal of or
bonding of mobile home and junk removal. Amended 8/12/10. Drain
update, problems on Bullis drainage now affecting neighbors, drain commission to
move up work to try to alleviate some of the issues prior to August completion
of drain. ZBA alternate. Motion
Topping support Mahler to appoint Jim Peterson to ZBA as alternate. Much
discussion. Opposed: Walker, Cowan. Motion Carried. Road paving
changes: Motion
Topping support Weiland to approve new contract as amended with additional
costs. Much discussion. Roll vote:
Ayes; Cowan, Mahler, Walker, Weiland, Topping. Nays: None. Resolution
approved. Attorney issues: Police requesting separate attorney for ticket
appearances, Foster, Swift too expensive. Topping also concerned with other
costs they are charging for. Motion
Topping support Mahler to return to former attorney Burns. Much discussion,
Opposed: Cowan, Walker, Weiland. Motion failed. Motion
Weiland support Walker to put out bids for attorney for local ordinances for
civil infractions. Opposed: Topping, Mahler. Motion carried. Cowan to
contact current attorney re: fee issues. New
Business: Motion
Walker support Mahler to approve a $20.00 addressing fee, this requires the
zoning administrator to visit each property and issue addresses. Carried.
Stantec engineering is requesting we approve their trail proposal contingent on
passage of the millage in August, they would like to begin some preliminary work
prior to that date. Motion
Walker support Mahler to approve Stantec proposal to use them for engineering of
the trail upgrades if proposal passes. Carried.
Motion
Mahler support Weiland to approve township donating Porta-John’s from Wild
Sanitation for the 4th of July. Wild Sanitation donates one.
Carried. Final Call to Public:
Cook question on driveway repairs. Mahler contacted DNR re help with Kaiser
road paving, they have referred her to their recreation department, she is
trying to make contact. Walker wished to thank the Stockbridge Area Garden Club
for their donation of flowers and planting in our downtown bikes and baskets,
we’ve received many compliments. Helmboldt discussion on Peterson and also new
addressing questions. Topping comment on drain issues.
